I joined a new community recently, and after introducing myself and my newsletter Audacious Introverts, someone commented:
Just dropping by to say “good luck!” on the introverted front, I know how hardcore it is
They were refering to energy patters.
Something I wouldn’t have understood back when I was an employee. Back then, work time equaled work, and everyone was expected to perform on the same schedule.
One of the best things about being an introverted solopreneur is that you get to design your work around your energy.
It’s not about motivation. Not about laziness or lack of discipline. It’s about aligning your work with what truly energizes you and paying attention to those subtle hints your body gives you.
Ironically, we know exactly which opportunities feel right and which ones don’t. But the hard truth is that sometimes we are not (yet) in a position where we can fully choose only energizing work.
But we can move closer to it.
This framework can help you get closer to work in line with your energy 👇
Today I’m introducing you to The Pursuit Map.

Framework #29 : the Pursuit Map
by Sahil Bloom
The Pursuit Map can help you identify where to spend time for the best outcomes and avoid energy drains.
Sahil Bloom explains this concept as a framework to use within the business (to build a team) and for yourself. Map tasks onto the grid to spot mismatches and opportunities.
Consider plotting your activities based on energy and competency.
You would end up with four quadrants:

The Pursuit Map - inspired by Sahil Bloom
Zone of Genius (High Energy, High Competency) — Your ideal work; gives energy and you excel at it. Put yourself and others here as much as possible.
Excellence Trap (Low Energy, High Competency) — Tasks you’re good at but hate; easy to get stuck because others praise you. Avoid staying here.
Growth (High Energy, Low Competency) — Things you enjoy but aren’t yet great at; worth investing in to move them toward Zone of Genius.
Dead Zone (Low Energy, Low Competency) — Neither energizing nor something you’re good at; delegate or eliminate these tasks.
If I would have to guess, most people are trapped in the comfort of their excellence. Dealing with change in a business model or service offer gets more difficult with time, the chase of stability and other factors out of our immediate control.
If I’m honest, I’m not yet at the point where I can fully choose only energizing work. But I know I’m getting closer.
Because that’s the ultimate goal for me as a solopreneur — not time freedom, not location freedom, but energy freedom.
