Welcome to the new Audacious Introverts joining the 21st edition of this newsletter 👋 Every week, I, Laura, share curated frameworks from the creator economy that helped me transition from biomedical engineer to audacious content creator. Overthink everything, show up anyway 🤓
A newsletter might be just the growth lever you needed to generate new business opportunities.
Even though I am not using this newsletter to generate business yet, I still know that to be true.
How?
Data 👇🏼
But let’s take a step back.
Before you can sell anything to your future email subscribers, you need to grow an email list.
Most creators use a lead magnet to drive subscribers, which is a fancy way of saying: they create a free digital asset (a PDF, short email or video course, short guide) in exchange for an email address.
Gotta love free stuff 💁🏼♀️
‼️ Note of caution
Competition for audience attention is fierce.
And while I am looking for a way to create my own digital asset, this creator leveled up what it means to offer a high-value lead magnet.
Today I’m introducing you to the 30-day lead magnet.
I think of myself as a content creator. I pretty much never use the word marketing anymore because I think marketing is done through great content.
by Chenell Basilio - Email growth researcher
More than a lead magnet, Chenell called her free email series a ‘pop-up’ newsletter.
With 30 (!) editions, Chenell built a free 30-day email sequence featuring daily growth tips built around the most impactful (email) growth levers from 30 different creators.
In return, said creators advertised this email series on their platforms. This may be the biggest cross-promotion series ever seen 🤯
Here is how you can replicate it:
Think about how you can provide tangible value to your audience: growth levers, content ideas, mindset shifts… many formats can work here.
Organizing content into an organized 30-day sequence can be highly valuable.
Displaying a clear learning path helps subscribers progress systematically through the tactics.
Use a consistent tactical template for your daily tactics (why it works, results, takeaways, etc)
curate a mix of tactics that can work for various audience sizes (from beginner to more advanced tactics)
Chenell reached out personally to each creator to coordinate the 30 day growth tactics. Benefit: cross-promotion and tapping into new audiences when your collaborators share the content on their socials.
Create a google sheet with a curated mix of creators and tactics in your field
For each edition, include a short write-up on the day’s growth lever and call-outs to the creator of the tactic in question.
Create a dedicated landing page to centralize email sign-ups
Publish daily about your pop-up newsletter on a distribution channel like LinkedIn or Substack.
Think about pre-launch and post-launch posts too!
Chenell included a series of giveaways in her ‘pop-up’ newsletter. In my opinion, the price is the insights, but this is a nice added bonus 🤷🏼♀️
Monetization opportunities: on the back of the idea of this email sequence, Chennel created The Growth Vault, her email growth course. I haven’t been through this, but linking it here FYI.
